Jeremy Colombik, CPA
Jeremy Colombik is an experienced, licensed financial professional. His accomplishments include being named as a Top of the Table member since 2008 for Life Insurance sales as well as a financial specialist for executives & business owners. Having Top of the Table membership is the highest designation that a Life Insurance producer can obtain. He is a graduate of Western Illinois University, having obtained a Bachelor of Business degree with a major in Finance. Jeremy is a licensed CPA and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accounts, and the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants. Furthermore, he has been in the captive industry for over 10 years and is a member of the Captive Insurance Companies Association and the North Carolina Captive Insurance Association. In addition, he serves as Chairman for the North Carolina Captive Insurance Association. Jeremy is the President of Management Services International (MSI). MSI currently manages over a hundred businesses that are utilizing a captive insurance company structure. MSI currently is one of the largest captive managers in the state of North Carolina. Jeremy specializes in IRC Sec. 831(b) captives. He is a sought-after speaker for professional groups, such as; CPAs, lawyers and financial advisors, on how a captive structure works and could be a great benefit to their clients.
Rosa Garcia managed operations for several privately owned companies and brings over fifteen years of experience. Her experience ranges from the banking industry to consumer goods. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing and Management and a Master’s in Accounting. Rosa believes in providing a professional client service approach to meet the needs of the clients. Rosa manages and oversees the operations of the company teaming up with Kimberly Powell.
Amye King operates with one goal in mind and that is to help others. Amye joins the MSI team as the National Sales Manager specializing in Captive services which includes IRC Section 831(b)’s. She focuses her efforts on approaching captive managers where MSI can offer solutions to their captives by assisting with their back office needs. Amye has over a decade of successful strategic and creative solutions for clients. She is a graduate of University of Illinois at Chicago, where she obtained her Bachelor’s degree. As a versatile sales and marketing leader, Amye provides a hands on and personalized approach to helping clients reach their business goals.
Derek has over thirty five years of professional experience in the commercial insurance and captive industry, having started his working life as an underwriter in Liverpool, before taking up senior broking positions with one of the world’s largest multi-national brokers as well as a large independent insurance brokerage in the UK where he was head of the Major Clients section.
He moved into the captive insurance world in March 2004 operating in multiple jurisdictions and has been associated with MSI personnel since that time. Derek served as Chairman of the BVI Association of Insurance Managers for a number of years and has sat on a number of governmental and private sector advisory bodies to the captive sector in various jurisdictions.
Clarissa is an accomplished business professional with over 10 years of experience in Administration with solution driven results. With a Master’s Degree in International Business and a Bachelor’s Degree in Management and Human Resources, Clarissa has always considered Business Development her calling. Currently, Clarissa is the Project Manager in MSI where she will be assuring we achieve operation efficiency and backing up Rosa in servicing internal and external clients. She will be leading several projects to improve the client experience.
Kim brings over thirty years of experience in the role of Office Manager/Executive Assistant. Her outstanding organizational/interpersonal skills as well as her “go to” attitude will be instrumental in servicing our clients. Kim will team up with Rosa managing the day to day operations.
Yani has a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, has over 15 years of experience in the several Insurance companies, managing all aspects of the accounting process. Her team work attitude has helped her integrate to our company seamlessly. She handles all the financial aspects of the day to day operations as well as tax preparation and audit Support.
Olga Bobonis is a professional accountant with sixteen years of accounting experience, mostly in insurance and reinsurance industry. Her insurance experience includes accounting, reporting and regulatory filings for local insurance commissioner for Life and Health Companies and also for Property and Casualty Companies. Olga has a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, a Master’s Degree in Finance and also has experience in the banking industry. As a financial analyst, she has a proactive mind-set, a strong ability to identify and resolve problem issues related to accounting reporting, and determine solutions for process improvements.
Robert Vergara, CPA
Robert Vergara is newest member of the MSI team. He currently has over 4 years of accounting experience from the private industry. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Suma Cum Laude, and is a licensed CPA. Robert will aid Yani within the accounting department with tax preparation, auditing, and creating new and innovative procedures to speed up the accounting cycle.
Zadiel Nieves is one of our newest members in the team, with over 7 years in Management, Government Public Accounting related areas and auditing experience. Has a BA in Business Administration, he has a Master’s Degree in Accounting with a minor in Finance. He is actually completing his Doctorate degree in International Business. Zadiel will be assisting Yani in all the financial aspects of the day to day operations as well as tax preparation.
Richard M. Colombik is an award winning Attorney, CPA with a Doctorate in Jurisprudence with Distinction and was formerly on the tax staff of one of the world’s wealthiest families.
Mr. Colombik has also been a tax manager at a Big Four accounting firm, the State Bar’s liaison to the Internal Revenue Service, Vice-President of the American Association of Attorney-CPA’s, Vice Chairman of the American Bar Association’s Tax Section of the General Practice Council, as well as the past Chair of the Illinois State Bar Association’s Federal Tax Committee. Mr. Colombik has also served on the liaison committee to the Washington, D.C. National Office of the Internal Revenue Service. Mr. Colombik is also a member of the Asset Protection Committee, ABA, and a member of its captive insurance sub-committee.
Mr. Colombik has appeared on numerous television shows, hosted a weekly radio show on tax and business planning, authored over 100 articles on income taxation, asset protection planning, IRS defense and estate planning. He has also instructed more than 100 seminars to professional groups, business groups, Bar Associations, CPA societies and Insurance Groups. This is in addition to authoring a published work on Business Entity Structures offered by the Illinois Institute of Continuing Legal Education, as well as writing a Chapter for The Estate Planning Short Course and Asset Protection Planning.
David Runge has been President of five companies ranging from start-ups to divisions of Fortune 500 companies, and was also a Partner at one of the largest professional services firms in the world – Deloitte Consulting. He has over 30 years of professional experience in various technology companies and in management consulting firms, both private and publicly held. Originally a client, he now serves as a Managing Partner for Tax Law Solutions. Dr. Runge received his D.Phil from Oxford University for his work on information technology and competitive strategy. He also holds MBA and BSEE degrees.
Insurance Brokerage Team
Chris grew up in Worcester, Massachusetts, where he attended Assumption College. He graduated with a degree in Political Science in 1991 and went straight into the insurance industry that same year after being recruited by Paul Revere as a Disability Income specialist. Chris spent 1992 in Columbia, SC running an agency, only to move to Raleigh the next year to take over a larger office. In 1998, he became the Southeastern Group Manager for Commercial Travelers. Chris caught the attention of MassMutual who recruited him in 2000 to be their Regional Disability Income specialist for 10 states. He has been the MassMutual Brokerage Director for all product lines for the Raleigh and Greensboro areas since 2004. Chris has been involved with CLTC since 2003, is currently a RAIFA board member, a member of NAILBA, and a MassMutual BDAX member.
Angela entered the insurance brokerage business in 1992. She worked for a local life brokerage firm while putting herself through night school. By the time she received her degree in Early Childhood Development, she had already found her niche in the life insurance business. In 1999, Angela made the move to John Hancock, but her drive and knowledge of the industry soon got her noticed by Gene Pleasants who wasted no time in recruiting her. In February 2007, Angela became a partner at the agency. She has served on the Board of Education for the local FPA chapter, is a member of NAIFA and NAILBA, has been involved in CLTC since 2002, and is currently enrolled in CFP with the College of Financial Planning.
With her background in the medical field, Julia started her career in Insurance when she was hired by MassMutual Life Insurance Company in May, 1990. In 1991, Julia obtained her Life, Health and Accident and Long Term Care licenses and earned a CLTC designation. She started working with Jeremy in 2006 and advanced into the brokerage area with him, becoming his Insurance Liaison Specialist on the East Coast.
